Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process. Machining is done with CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction, and a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior Molybdenum Coating adhesion, doubling durability. - Molybdenum Bisulphite Coating: A specialized black finish that reduces friction during the critical break-in period and throughout operation.
- Phosphate Coating: Inspired by Formula One technology, this additional layer provides a slight increase in surface hardness and creates a light porosity that ensures superior adhesion of the Molybdenum coating. This combination effectively doubles the durability of the piston surface.
