Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process. Machining is done with CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction, and a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior Molybdenum Coating adhesion, doubling durability. Designed for riders who demand durability and consistent power, this 54.45mm piston features a +0.50mm oversize to help you get the most out of your engine rebuild.\n\nVertex pistons are manufactured using high-quality Low-Ex (low expansion) silicon-charged aluminium alloys. Through a combination of gravity casting or hydraulic forging and a sophisticated automated heat treatment process, these pistons achieve superior material structure and strength.\n\n### Advanced Manufacturing and Coating\n\nEvery Vertex piston is crafted using state-of-the-art CNC machining and diamond tooling to ensure exact tolerances and optimal surface finishes. To enhance longevity and break-in performance, this piston features a dual-layer coating system:\n\n- Molybdenum Bisulphite Coating: A specialized black finish that reduces friction during the critical break-in period and throughout operation.\n\n- Phosphate Coating: Inspired by Formula One technology, this additional layer provides a slight increase in surface hardness and creates a light porosity that ensures superior adhesion of the Molybdenum coating. This combination effectively doubles the durability of the piston surface.\n\n### Key Features\n\n- Precision-engineered 54.45mm diameter (+0.50mm oversize)\n\n- High-grade silicon-charged aluminium alloy construction\n\n- Advanced heat treatment for improved durability\n\n- Low-friction Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating\n\n- Durable Phosphate coating for extended service life\n\n- Rigorous manual and automatic quality control inspections","weightGrams":null,"fitments":[],"collections":[],"links":{"page":"https://www.2brosparts.com/products/yamaha-yz-125-1998-2001-050mm-oversize-5445mm-single-ring-piston","buyOneNow":"https://www.2brosparts.com/api/agent/checkout/GB/466736fa6fb8:1","basketWithThis":"https://www.2brosparts.com/api/agent/basket/GB/466736fa6fb8:1"}},"market":{"country":"GB","countryName":"United Kingdom","locale":"en-gb","currency":"GBP","exchangeRateFromGbp":1,"pricesIncludeUkVat":true,"checkoutTax":null,"delivery":[{"name":"Standard","description":"Orders £15.00–£59.99 · 2–4 business days","carrier":null,"estimatedDays":"2–4 business days","price":{"amount":4.99,"formatted":"£4.99"},"free":false,"minimumOrder":{"amount":0,"formatted":"£0.00","gbp":0},"weightGrams":null},{"name":"Standard","description":"Orders £60.00 and up · 2–4 business days","carrier":null,"estimatedDays":"2–4 business days","price":{"amount":0,"formatted":"£0.00"},"free":true,"minimumOrder":{"amount":60,"formatted":"£60.00","gbp":60},"weightGrams":null}],"storeUrl":"https://www.2brosparts.com"},"navigate":{"start":"https://www.2brosparts.com/api/agent","search":"https://www.2brosparts.com/api/agent/search/GB/{words+joined+with+plus}"},"howToBuy":{"summary":"Build a basket for the shopper and give them one checkout link.
