Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon depending on the application. They are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and reduced friction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities to the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. This piston has a bore size of 43.48mm and a single ring.
