Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed from Formula One engine technology, offers increased hardness and superior adhesion for extended coating durability. This piston is Grade C with a 67.96mm bore and twin rings.
