Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content, depending on the application. The pistons are created using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment for material refinement. Machining is performed with the latest CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes a rigorous quality control process. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction, and also feature a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and durability. This is a Grade B, 57.96mm single ring piston.

The Vertex Grade B 57.96mm single ring piston is engineered for high performance and durability, utilizing advanced manufacturing processes to ensure reliability under demanding conditions. Each piston is crafted from exotic Low-Ex (low expansion) silicon-charged aluminium alloys. The silicon content is precisely balanced at 12%, 18%, or 21% to suit specific engine applications. The blanks are created via gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a sophisticated heat treatment process in an automatic implant with hot water quenching to refine the material structure and maximize strength.

This coating assists during the break-in period and actively reduces friction during engine operation. Furthermore, Vertex incorporates a phosphate coating inspired by Formula One technology. This layer increases surface hardness and provides light porosity, which significantly improves the adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum coating.
