Vertex pistons are made from Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon depending on the application. They are manufactured using gravity casting or hydraulic forging. The material structure is refined through a hi-tech heat treatment process with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed on the latest CNC machines using diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new phosphate coating is also available, offering increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion for extended durability. This piston has a 53.93mm bore and a single ring.
