Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed following Formula One engine technology, offers increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston has a 63.95mm bore size.
