Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, with material structure refined through high-tech heat treatment in an automatic HT implant, including solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes for final application. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. A new, all-over Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities of the Molybdenum Coating, extending durability. This is a single ring piston with a 53.94mm bore and Grade A specification.
