Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content. They are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a black Molybdenum Bisulphite coating for break-in and friction reduction, and a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and enhanced durability. This is a big bore 80mm 270cc piston with a 12.6:1 compression ratio.
