Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging processes, with material structure refined through a high-tech heat treatment completed in an automatic implant with solubilization by quenching in hot water. Machining is done using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, allowing for specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new, all-over Phosphate Coating is also available, providing increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This is a Grade B, 47.44mm single ring piston for the Suzuki RM 80 (83cc).
