Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging and then heat treated. Machining is done with the latest CNC machines and diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite for break-in and friction reduction. A newer Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness, surface porosity, and enhanced adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This is a Grade B 66.35mm twin ring piston.
