Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, then refined through heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is done using CNC machines and diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new all-over Phosphate Coating, developed from Formula One engine technology, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities, doubling the coating durability. This product is a Grade C 66.36mm twin ring piston.
