Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, then heat treated using a high-tech process with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating has also been introduced, increasing hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is Grade C and measures 53.97mm.
