Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12% 18% or 21% silicon depending on the application. They are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes and refined with a hi-tech heat treatment. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools for specific surface finishes. Every piston undergoes rigorous quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. They also feature a new Phosphate Coating which increases hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability. This piston is 53.97mm with a single ring.
