Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by heat treatment. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools for specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness and improved adhesion qualities over the Molybdenum Coating, doubling coating durability. This piston has a single ring and a 53.95mm bore.
