Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a hi-tech heat treatment process in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and reduced friction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed following Formula One engine advancements, offers increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and double the coating durability. This piston has a 55.98mm bore and includes twin rings.
