Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12% 18% or 21% silicon depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes. Material structure is refined using a hi-tech heat treatment process completed in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using CNC machines and software with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. Vertex has also introduced a new Phosphate Coating which has a slight hardness increase combined with light surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability. 95.45mm STD compression.
