Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are produced via gravity casting or hydraulic forging, with material structure refined through advanced heat treatment in an automatic HT implant, including solubilization by quenching in hot water. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines, software, and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction, and a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, light surface porosity, and enhanced Molybdenum Coating adhesion and durability.
