Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex Silicon aluminium alloys (12%, 18% or 21% depending on application). They are made using a gravity cast or hydraulic forging process, with material structure refined by a hi-tech Heat Treatment process. The machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools, allowing for specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness and light surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability. This piston has a bore of 66.35mm and features twin rings.
