Vertex pistons are manufactured using low-expansion silicon aluminium alloys. The pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools, allowing for specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. The pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. Vertex also offers a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion of the Molybdenum Coating, doubling the coating's durability.
