Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex Silicon charged aluminium alloys. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes. Material structure is refined using a hi-tech Heat Treatment with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston passes through manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. Vertex has introduced a new Phosphate Coating for improved hardness and superior adhesion of the Molybdenum Coating, extending durability. STD Compression 12.5:1, 95.97mm bore.
