Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is done using CNC machines and diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion for the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. This piston has a bore of 95.97mm and a compression ratio of 13.0:1.
