Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by hot water quench. Machining is performed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed from Formula One engine technology, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability for the Molybdenum Coating. This piston has a bore of 95.98mm and a compression ratio of 13.5:1.
