Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities for extended coating durability.

Advanced Manufacturing and Material Quality
Vertex pistons are constructed from specialized Low-Ex (low expansion) silicon-charged aluminium alloys, with silicon content ranging from 12% to 21% tailored specifically for the application. The production process utilizes either gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a state-of-the-art heat treatment in an automated implant to refine the material structure. This ensures superior strength and thermal stability under demanding conditions.
Precision Engineering and Durability
Every piston is finished using advanced CNC machinery and diamond-tipped tools to achieve precise surface textures. To further improve longevity and performance, these pistons feature a dual-layer coating system:
- Molybdenum Bisulphite Coating: A specialized black coating that assists during the break-in process and reduces friction within the cylinder.
- Phosphate Coating: Inspired by Formula One technology, this all-over coating increases surface hardness and provides light surface porosity. This improves the adhesion of the Molybdenum coating, effectively doubling the durability of the protective finish.
