Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon depending on the application. Blanks are produced via gravity cast or hydraulic forging, then refined with a heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and reduced friction. Vertex has also introduced a new Phosphate Coating, offering increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is high compression with a 13.6:1 ratio and a bore of 95.97mm.
