Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, then heat-treated for material refinement. Machining is done with CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite for break-in and friction reduction, and some feature a Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and Molybdenum Coating adhesion. This piston has a 95.98mm bore and 12.7:1 compression.
