Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process in an automatic HT implant with hot water solubilization. Machining is performed on the latest CNC machines using diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A newer Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities for the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. This piston has a bore of 95.96mm and a compression ratio of 13.2:1.
