Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with hot water solubilization. This process refines the material structure. Machining is performed on the latest CNC machines with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes for each application. All Vertex pistons undergo rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is 76.97mm with a 13.9:1 compression ratio.
