Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes. The material structure is refined using a high-tech heat treatment process. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software, with diamond tooling for specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes a rigorous quality control process. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. Vertex also offers a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion of the Molybdenum Coating, doubling coating durability. This piston is 76.95mm with a 13.4:1 compression ratio.
