Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, with material structure refined through heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quenching in hot water. Machining is done using CNC machines and diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous quality control. Pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite for break-in and friction reduction. Vertex also offers a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness and superior adhesion of the Molybdenum Coating, extending durability. This piston is Grade A, 76.95mm, with 13.4:1 compression.
