Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon depending on the application. Pistons are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with hot water quenching. This process refines the material structure. Machining is done on the latest CNC machines with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes for each application. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, similar to that used in Formula One engines, provides increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion for the Molybdenum Coating, doubling coating durability. This piston is Grade A, 76.95mm, with a 13.9:1 high compression ratio.
