Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon depending on the application. They use gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes for blank parts, followed by a hi-tech Heat Treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software, along with diamond tools, to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating has been introduced which offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities for the Molybdenum Coating, extending durability. This piston has a bore size of 76.95mm and a compression ratio of 13.9:1.
