Replica piston with twin rings, 48.46mm bore size, Grade C. Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a heat treatment process using an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software, with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes a rigorous manual and automatic quality control process. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. Vertex also offers a new Phosphate Coating which increases hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability.
