Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. They are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging, followed by a hi-tech heat treatment in an automatic plant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction, and also feature a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion, doubling the coating durability.
