Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon, depending on the application. They are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a hi-tech heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. A new, all over, Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities for extended durability. This piston has a bore size of 66.36mm.
