Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, then refined with a high-tech heat treatment in an automatic implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. This process uses cutting-edge technology for these aluminium alloys. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes for the final application. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction within the cylinder. Vertex has also introduced a new, all-over Phosphate Coating, which increases hardness and offers superior adhesion qualities to the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability.
