Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% Silicon depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging, with material structure refined by a hi-tech Heat Treatment process in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new, all over, Phosphate Coating is also available, which has increased hardness and surface porosity for superior Molybdenum Coating adhesion and durability.
