Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon depending on the application. They are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes. The material structure is refined using a heat treatment process in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software, and diamond tools are used to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes a manual and automatic quality control process. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, which increases hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is a replica piston with a single ring.
