Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid in break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating, used in Formula One engines, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion for the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability.
