Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. They are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a high-tech heat treatment completed in an automatic implant with solubilization by quenching in hot water. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines, software, and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid in break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating, used in Formula One engines, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion for the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. This is a single ring, replica piston with a 55.95mm diameter and a +2.00mm oversize.
