They are made using either a gravity cast or hydraulic forging process. The material structure is refined using a high-tech heat treatment process in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software, along with diamond tools, to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. Vertex also offers a new Phosphate Coating, which has increased hardness and light surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating.
