Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. The pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quenching in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines, software, and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion for the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. This is a Grade B piston with a 53.95mm diameter and twin rings.
