Gas Gas EC/MX/SM 125 2003-2010 Grade A 53.95mm
Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon depending on the application. Pistons are manufactured using either a gravity cast or hydraulic forging process. The material structure is refined using a hi-tech Heat Treatment process with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software, as well as diamond tools. Every Vertex piston passes through a rigorous manual and automatic quality control process. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid during piston break-in and reduce friction. Vertex has introduced a new Phosphate Coating which has a slight hardness increase combined with light surface porosity that exhibits superior adhesion qualities of the Molybdenum Coating, extending the coating durability.

Vertex utilizes exotic Low-Expansion (Low-Ex) silicon-charged aluminium alloys to construct each piston. Depending on the application, these alloys feature 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content to provide exceptional thermal stability and durability. The production process involves sophisticated gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a cutting-edge heat treatment process using automatic HT implants to refine the material structure for maximum strength.

Every piston is manufactured using the latest CNC machinery and diamond-tipped tooling to achieve exacting tolerances and specific surface finishes. To further enhance performance, each piston features a dual-layer coating system:
- Molybdenum Bisulphite Coating: A specialized black coating that facilitates a smooth break-in period and significantly reduces friction within the cylinder.
- Phosphate Coating: Drawing inspiration from Formula One technology, this all-over coating increases surface hardness and provides superior adhesion for the Molybdenum layer, effectively doubling the coating durability.
