Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% Silicon. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. Vertex also offers a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness and superior adhesion qualities of the Molybdenum Coating, extending durability. This is an oversize +1mm 54.95mm single ring piston.
