Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon, depending on the application. The pistons are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by heat treatment in an automatic implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is done using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new, all-over Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness and superior adhesion of the Molybdenum Coating for extended durability. This piston is 65.50mm with a Grade C sizing.
