Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, then refined through a hi-tech heat treatment. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools for specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion of the Molybdenum Coating for extended durability. This piston is twin ring and has a 53.96mm bore.

Vertex Grade C 53.96mm Twin Ring Piston

The Vertex Grade C 53.96mm Twin Ring Piston is engineered for high performance and durability, utilizing advanced manufacturing processes to meet the demands of competitive engine environments. Vertex pistons are crafted from exotic, low-expansion silicon-charged aluminum alloys, with silicon content specifically selected based on the application to ensure thermal stability and strength.

Each piston blank is created through either gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a state-of-the-art heat treatment process. This involves solubilization and a controlled water quench, which refines the material structure for maximum longevity. Precision machining is performed using advanced CNC technology and diamond tools, ensuring exact tolerances and a high-quality surface finish.

To enhance performance and reliability, these pistons feature a specialized Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating. This coating assists during the break-in period and reduces friction within the cylinder. Furthermore, the piston benefits from an all-over Phosphate Coating, which provides a slight increase in surface hardness and incorporates a light surface porosity. This serves as a superior base for the Molybdenum coating, effectively doubling its durability compared to standard applications.
