Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with hot water quenching. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, increasing hardness and surface porosity for superior Molybdenum Coating adhesion and durability. This piston has a bore of 66.34mm and twin rings.
