Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content. The manufacturing process includes gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed following Formula One engine advancements, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion for extended coating durability. This is a single ring piston with a 66.35mm bore.
