Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston has a 66.94mm bore size.
