Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, then heat-treated using a hi-tech automatic implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is done using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes for the piston's final application. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating has been introduced, which offers increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating, extending its lifespan. This piston has a 89.97mm standard compression bore.
