Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, with material structure refined through an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools for specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new, all-over Phosphate Coating has been introduced, increasing hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is 98mm, 474cc, with a 11.7:1 compression ratio.
